The Ember Model:

where Montessori meets the modern world

At our core, we are committed to child-led discovery, purposeful work, and the development of the whole student—as well as a learning ecosystem designed for the world our students are growing into.

Our instructional model is rooted in authentic Montessori pedagogy, where students move freely within limits, follow their curiosity, and engage in hands-on, interdisciplinary learning. Mixed-age classrooms foster collaboration, independence, and a deep sense of community. Guides carefully prepare environments that spark inquiry and allow students to progress at their own pace, mastering skills through both instruction and, most valuably, experience.

By blending the time-tested Montessori approach with thoughtful innovation, Ember Academy provides a joyful, well-rounded education that helps every student ignite their passions and confidently embrace the future.

Visual Arts  & Physical Education :

Driven by creativity, self-expression, and holistic well-being, our visual arts and physical education program helps students develop skills in leadership, collaboration, and resilience so they can gain the confidence and character to thrive in all areas of life.

Entrepreneurship & Purposeful Work:

From microeconomy projects to design thinking challenges, students learn how to turn ideas into action. They practice creativity, resource management, and problem-solving in ways that matter—to them and to their communities.

Evolving with Intention

We integrate modern learning domains that empower students to thrive in today’s dynamic world.

Technology & Innovation:

Students explore coding, digital creation, digital safety, and emerging technologies through open-ended tools and real-world projects to help them develop into conscious creators and ethical thinkers.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL):

Emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and community building are woven into daily life. Through reflective practices, restorative meetings, and mindfulness, students learn the importance of leading with empathy and resilience.

Primary (preschool-kindergarten)

For preschool through kindergarten (Primary), learning is rooted in sensory exploration and practical life skills. Children work with materials that teach concepts like reading, math, language, and science through touch and movement—such as tracing sandpaper letters or pouring water between pitchers. They learn to care for themselves and their environment, developing focus, coordination, and independence.

Primary students receive a well-rounded introduction to education through hands-on activities and individualized learning experiences. For example, they might use sensory materials like colorful beads and blocks to explore math concepts such as counting, addition, and patterns, while also learning language skills through phonics games and storytelling. At the same time, they engage in practical life activities like pouring, sweeping, and buttoning, which help develop fine motor skills, concentration, and independence. Additionally, children are introduced to geography and cultural studies through interactive maps and discussions about different countries, fostering curiosity and respect for diversity. This balanced approach lays a strong foundation for academic, social, and emotional growth.

Elementary (grades 1-5)

In the Elementary program (grades 1–5), students build on their Montessori foundation through collaborative, interest-driven learning and increasingly abstract thinking. Big-picture lessons, like the origins of the universe, spark curiosity and lead to in-depth, project-based exploration across subjects. The curriculum emphasizes interconnected learning (Cosmic Education), hands-on materials, and long-term “big work” that reflects each child’s passions. Students develop social and leadership skills through group work, take responsibility for planning and completing their studies, and engage in discussions around fairness and ethics. Learning extends beyond the classroom through outdoor exploration and community-based experiences.

In addition to core Montessori work, students enjoy a rich variety of enhancements that support whole-child development. These include programs in technology, art, foreign language, and gardening/farming. Regular community outings—to museums, local businesses, nature preserves, and more—extend learning beyond the classroom and help children connect their studies to the wider world.
